Chris followed her example, laying down his own fork and staring into D.J.'s face. "Why not, D.J.? Is it really so bad? At least you had parents. I had no one. Maybe if you talked about what was so awful in your life, you wouldn't feel so angry all the time."
D.J.'s face drained of color. She stood, her chair sliding backward, tilting and almost falling over with the force of her shove. Without another word, D.J. spun on her heel and left Chris alone at the table.

D.J. burst through the door to the ladies room, her face hot and feverish. A quick glance around revealed she had the room to herself. She turned the cold water on full force and stuck her wrists under the gushing fluid. The coolness soothed her. D.J. took a deep breath and looked into the mirror.
Josie's face stared back.
D.J. straightened so fast, her back gave a painful twinge of discomfort. "Get out of here," she hissed. "I told you not to do that. What if someone sees you?"
Josie materialized next to her, wearing another of her flowing, flowered dresses. "I told you, dear, no one can see me but you."
"What are you doing here?"
"You looked like you needed some moral support. Though, I must say, you're blowing this."
D.J. sighed, bringing her cool hands up to rest against her throbbing cheeks. "Blowing what?"
"This date."
"It's not a date!" D.J. flinched as her angry shout echoed off the tiled walls and floor. "It's not a date,"
